Training Style

Contrary to what the baby face may convey, Joey has been coaching and training for just over 10 years - First through Gymnastics, then functional fitness, Olympic Weightlifting, and finally strength training. He has worked with all manner of folks; from 4 years old all the way up to 80; with zero experience using the body up to competitive athlete; from teenage boy to pregnant mother with a full time job. As long as he is helping someone improve relative to their current position in life, then he feels like he, and they, have won.

As a gymnast in his younger days, Joey has always had a desire to see what the limits of the human body are and to then provide an avenue for other people to see those limits. He competed in Gymnastics throughout high school, and soon afterwards transitioned to Olympic Weightlifting where he slowly inched up towards a
“decent”national ranking. In that time, Joey has produced educational content related to training and to this day, is known for going on long tangents about technique and training philosophy.

In his spare time, Joey works as a barista one day per week at Stone Creek Coffee. He spends plenty of time with friends, and indulges an inner nerdiness by consuming fantasy content
(books, games, movies!). Joey has an unfortunate affinity for cheese and salami (not the best for his training), he love a long bike ride in the sun, and he recently picked up an interest in reading poetry.
